Hello! For those of you who didn’t see my previous Three To Try, my name is Christi Richter and I am the intern here at Breakfast With Nick. I love breakfast (obviously) but I have a soft spot for a good breakfast diner, so this week’s Three To Try will be my three favorite breakfast diners in Columbus.
1. Nancy’s Home Cooking – Although the restaurant itself is a little bit small (get there early!) the portions are incredibly huge. I love Nancy’s because of its homey feel and intimacy. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The prices are very reasonable as well. I highly recommend trying the corned beef hash and the Garbage Omelet (filled with pretty much every breakfast meat and vegetable imaginable). The home fries and the French toast are wonderful as well. You can’t go wrong when it comes to Nancy’s.
2. Fitzy’s Old Fashioned Diner – Fitzy’s is a more traditional diner feel, and I cannot rave enough about the food. The biscuit and gravy was absolutely delicious. The portions at Fitzy’s are more than generous and the prices are very reasonable. The Marilyn Monroe posters on the wall and old diner booths give you a bit of a blast from the past.
3. Jack and Benny’s – Jack and Benny’s is another one of my favorite diners. For all of you OSU students, its not very far from campus, conveniently located on high street. Their prices, like the other two, are very, very reasonable. Again, get here early because it fills up fast. I highly recommend the Gut Buster (a hash brown, a potato pancake, bacon, ham, egg, sausage patty, and cheese all stacked with gravy).
