Hey everybody! Christi the intern here; I haven’t written in a while, but I’m back with another Three To Try post. This theme may be slightly more collegiate-based then usual, but I’m going to write about my favorite spots near campus.
1. Sloopy’s Diner – Sloopy’s was a life saver freshman year because it is a meal plan dining option for students that actually feels like a restaurant and not a middle school cafeteria. Its cute old-school diner theme is the perfect place to start your morning. Breakfast is served all day, and fun fact: one of the dishes (the breakfast burrito) was actually named after Nick for a while (they switch the names of the dishes every year). If you decide to venture here don’t miss the little bakery on the way out; their chocolate chip cookies were an essential and cherished part of my “freshman 15.”
2. Buckeye Donuts – Buckeye Donuts is wonderful for an Ohio Stater simply because of its location. It is right on high and is open 24/7. Their breakfast sandwiches are both delicious and filling. Also, their donuts are incredible (which I’m sure you could’ve guessed by looking at the restaurant name). A simple but delicious personal recommendation is the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. Also if you come at a later hour, their gyros are incredible. Buckeye Donuts is something every Buckeye has to try at least once and is staple part of OSU’s dining tradition.
3. Dunkin’ Donuts – I don’t like writing about chains normally, but the Dunkin’ donuts on Woodruff and High is one of the many blessings I’ve received this school year. Dunkin’ is another quick and easy breakfast option to snag on your way to class or work. Their coffee has gotten me through many classes and study sessions alike. It’s a perfect way to get a good breakfast when you’re in a time crunch. The workers at this specific location are incredibly friendly and the building has a happy and welcoming feel, more so than most chains.
